Work Ethic Matters

When my sons first started working in the yard with me, I started them “weed-eating” as we say around here, or the proper phrase, using the string trimmer. I would start mowing and after a few minutes, see them head back in the house. I would stop and ask them why they stopped and they would reply “I’m finished!”

I had been a poor teacher. They had done what I had asked. They had “weed-eated” all around the yard. But the grass was not trimmed in all the places the mower could not reach. I didn’t need the weed-eater run, I needed the grass trimmed.

It’s not that they did a poor job, they didn’t fully understand what I was trying to accomplish. Notably, they all do a great job trimming the lawn these days.

But we see examples of truly poor workmanship every day. So many people “run the weed eater” when they need to trim the grass. Those two things are very different. It doesn’t matter the field, poor performers and great performers are all around us. Look no further than Chick Fil A and McDonalds. Both provide drive thru service. Which line do you want to be in if you’re in a hurry? One “weed-eats”, the other trims the grass.

We recently came across bins of one of our customers that a competitor had mistakenly cleaned a few hours before we arrived. The bins were taped shut with their logo proudly taped to the lid. In the heat, the melting tape left a mess. The lid was visibly dirty. It had not been cleaned at all. We removed the gooey tape and opened the lid. The smell inside was not pleasant, likely because there was an inch or so of water left in the bottom. When we stared actually cleaning the bins, a soapy residue that had been left behind washed off, inside and out. These bins had been “weed-eated”, not cleaned and sanitized.

At TriStar Bin Cleaning, we believe in doing everything to the best of our ability. We do not leave until the grass is trimmed, umm… the bins are cleaned to our high standards.

We start the cleaning process with clean, filtered, softened water. We do not use soap or any other detergents or harsh chemicals in the cleaning process. Just 200°F water, pressurized to 3,500 PSI (which is 50-60 times the pressure of a typical garden hose).

We clean the outside of the bins using the same purified hot water we use on the inside. We then use the custom-built cleaning heads on the truck to clean and sanitize the inside of the trash bins.

The bins are then thoroughly dried and treated with an FDA approved, no-rinse food-safe disinfectant, Vital Oxide, electrostatic spray technology. Within seconds, Vital Oxide kills the dangerous viruses, bacteria, mold, and mildew that may have survived the traditional trash bin cleaning process. This includes SARS-CoV-2, the novel Coronavirus that causes COVID-19. You can read more about electrostatic spray and Vital Oxide here.

Only after all of these steps are completed will your bins be returned to the curb. We are the first and only bin cleaning company in the United States taking these extra steps to ensure that your bins are as fresh, clean & safe as possible.

The best part? The process takes only a couple of minutes! It really doesn’t take longer to do a good job than it does to do a job poorly. We believe in doing things right the first time. John Wooden famously said, “If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it again?”

Whatever you are doing, even if you are just cleaning garbage cans, you will never regret doing it right. Doing it right eliminates the need to do it over (and often still get poor results).

TriStar Bin Cleaning provides solutions to clean, sanitize and disinfect your garbage can. Our purpose-built bin cleaning truck accomplishes a level of safety in just seconds that is simply not possible when using household detergents and disinfectants.
